Lessa Lessa Gender: Female
Age: adult
Loc: Florida
Status: Available, URGENT
Lessa is 3 ½ yrs. old, born Oct. 2011. She is spayed and up to date on shots. She weighs 60 lbs. Lessa is on Comfortis for fleas and Endomec for heartworm prevention. She gets along with most other dogs. She's accustomed to being with 3 other dogs, all are related, but her sister is challenging her. They are fighting and must be kept separate. She has her own bowl and eats with the other animals. She doesn't mess with anyone while eating, but prefers to eat at night. She likes to be brushed and goes belly up. She will "sit, shake, down, and say please." She has grown up with a huge area with 6' high chain link. She respects a fence; she doesn’t try to climb or dig out. She is house broken and has her own sofa chair.
Lessa needs a loving home without young children or small animals. She is timid; a little shy at first, but with patience will warm up to her new family.
Because of the fighting the owner needs to keep the two sisters separate. We must find a new home for Lessa as soon as possible. Contact Debbie at dak0717@hotmail.com.

These dogs are feral, loose on property that is not fenced. Most have porcupine quills in faces, swollen, no vet care but seem to be in good health otherwise. They are shy but not aggressive. There is a shed on property where a few dogs at a time can be herded and kept a few hours until pick up. Any help with capture is welcome and greatly needed as the property/dog owners are incapable of helping due to health issues. It looks like two females are in "cages." Osine may be pregnant. Ducky Ducky Gender: Female
Age: adult
Loc: California
Status: Available
CA - MEET DUCKY- BEAUTIFUL NORTHERN BREED MIX LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER FAMILY.
Ducky is spayed, chipped and UTD on all vaccinations. Her current age is unknown but she is likely approximately 5 years old. She weighs 88Lbs and is about 29 inches at the shoulder. We prefer her to be adopted in anywhere on the West Coast (CA-WA) for home check and follow up purposes, but for the right home other areas will be considered. contact jenniferreitman@gmail.com
Adoption requirements will include escape proof fencing over 6ft and home check. Transportation help can be provided.
Ducky was saved from an abuse/neglect situation where she was left outside and rarely fed, this sweet girl has not had a good life so far. She is now safe in a foster home but deserves a loving home of her own. She is a very, very special girl – truly a “heart dog”.
Ducky craves both human and canine companionship. She is playing really well with her foster sister and has done well meeting new dogs, albeit a tiny bit guarded at first. She can be a little shy of new people, but warms up quicky. She loves to be petted and brushed, just absolute loves people and other dogs.
Ducky bonds VERY quickly and strongly and we suspect she probably has separation anxiety. She will do best in a home that has at least one other dog for security and companionship. As she is doing just fine with females, we believe friendly female sibling would be fine or of course a male. With no other dogs for companionship, she will only do well in a home where her humans work from home or are retired.
While she has not had formal training, she is already learning to sit and given her affectionate and loving nature, she will like be easy to train and assimilate into a home. She does not pull on leash, but will benefit from additional leash training. She will need a patient, loving, nurturing home to show her what life is like as a pet.

Rhea Rhea Gender: Female
Age: adult
Loc: California
Status: Available, URGENT
Urgent! Placerville, CA - Rhea is a 65 lb, beautiful Husky mix with a social and friendly disposition toward other medium and large sized dogs. She is currently tethered in the back yard much of the day and is quite lonely and desperate as her owner recently lost job and cannot keep her any longer. She is up to date on vaccinations and seems to be in good health. Rhea is quite lithe and athletic, she will require an escape-proof yard (7-8 foot fence or 6' with lean ins, plus dig guard) and would do best as a companion dog to an active person or couple (she is not a good fit for families with young children). Having a dog buddy will help her feel more secure when left alone. True to the Nordic breeds, she is not recommended for homes with small animals, including small dogs. Her ideal home would allow her to accompany her people during the day because she will vocalize if left alone for more than an hour or two, so an owner that works at home or is retired would be wonderful for this sweetie. Opportunities to exercise and burn off young Husky energy should occur daily as often as possible. If interested in giving this sweet girl a foster or permanent home, please email Robin at calmcompanions@hotmail.com or PamelaJo at Pamelajowolflady2@sbcglobal.net (775) 833-2066 or Presley at ttldogtraining@gmail.com

Peanut Peanut Gender: Female
Age: adult
Loc: Oregon
Status: Available, URGENT
Urgent! Sweet Home, Oregon - needs home by mid-April or will be PTS! Peanut is a 45 lb, spayed little girl of 10 yrs. Peanut appears to be a husky mix. She is part of a larger group of dogs who must have homes in April or they are going to be euthanized. Their owner has lost the property and only can take 2 dogs with him to his new rental. I cannot let that happen to them and am hoping that someone with a kind heart for older dogs will come forward. Peanut and her friends are only socialized to their owners and have never been off their property. Peanut is a gregarious little girl though and with someone who will be patient and kind, she will open up to them. Peanut would do best having a nice male companion ... her best friend was adopted and she was heartbroken so we really want her to have a sweet boyfriend. Peanut is in great condition and has no medical issues. She will not be placed where there are small children, cats or small doggies. She has lived only outdoors but so far all of her dog friends who have been placed are getting to adjust being in the house and they love it, so I am certain Peanut will as well. Please contact Kim at kimkahl@dukewarner.com or call 541-382-0065 for more info and an adoption application.

Max Max Gender: Male
Age: adult
Loc: Washington
Status: Available
Everette, WA - Max is a beautiful Husky/Malamute mix who will be 2 years old in February and is currently in foster. He was surrendered into Rescue, because he is a bit of an escape artist and his owners were not able to keep him contained on their property. During one of his escapades he got injured and is now almost blind in one eye. This does not seem to bother him at all, and he is still very handsome. Only when you look close can you see a bit of cloudiness in his eye. Max is a little shy at first, but becomes a very sweet playful boy with a lot of Husky-energy once he gets to know you. He needs a house with a big yard and secure 6-foot fencing. Max is very good with other dogs and would do best with a buddy. He has been living with cats in his foster home and has shown no interest in them, but has made fast friends with his doggie-housemates. Max would do best with a woman, since he is scared of men. He is very smart and sensitive, so he could probably learn to get along with a man who is calm and very patient, but it will take time. Due to his fear of men, he would not be good in dog parks. Max is looking for a home where he can feel safe and loved. As long as he gets enough exercise and feels no need to escape, he will be a wonderful and fun family member. Max has not been exposed to small children during his time in foster. Max is neutered and all his shots are up-to-date. Please contact Kim for an Adoption Application at KimKahl@dukewarner.com. Torres Torres Gender: Male
Age: adult
Loc: California
Status: Available, URGENT
Urgent - Bishop, CA - Torres is a beautiful 4 y/o neutered male Husky-Malamute that needs a home right away. He and his sister (from a different litter) got carried away with chasing and injured a small dog. Animal Control wants to take them both away and they will be euthanized. Torres is good with some medium and large dogs but not with small dogs. He also weighs about 90lbs (sounds overweight) and would love a new home where he would get adequate exercise, one-on-one attention, some training and learn to be good around all dogs. Torres does pull on leash but he also is their running partner, usually 4 miles every morning. He stays with his owners better than Nube. He also has skijored. He is very well behaved indoors and is housetrained, but does like to dig so needs adequate fencing and dig guard. Torres has no food aggression with his sister or people and is quite submissive around kids and strangers. He is extremely loving and affectionate with humans and once he gets to get to know you he will be a love bug. Torres only has a short time before Animal Control may take him away but they have allowed the owners to keep both dogs for a little while to look for new homes. Time is running out! Please contact our Rescue Coordinator Robin at CalmCompanions@hotmail.com or PamelaJoWolflady2@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in Torres.

Nube Nube Gender: Female
Age: adult
Loc: California
Status: Available, URGENT
Urgent - Bishop, CA - Nube (pronounced New-bay) is a sweet 5 y/o spayed female Husky-Malamute that needs a home right away. She will be adopted separately from her brother as they are both much better alone when not getting into trouble like brothers and sisters do! She and her brother turned play into prey chased and injured a small dog. Animal Control wants to take them away and they will be euthanized. She is good with other medium and large dogs but not with small dogs. Nube is spayed and weighs about 90lbs (a bit overweight) and would love a new home where she would get adequate exercise, some training and learn to be good around all dogs. She pulls a bit on leash so some training in this area would be good as well. She is very well behaved indoors and is housetrained, and does not try to escape her yard. Nube has no food aggression with her brother and is quite neutral around kids and strangers - she has that Husky aloofness sometimes but is affectionate to her human once she has bonded. Nube only has a short time before Animal Control may take her away but they have allowed the owners to keep both dogs for a little while to look for new homes where they can get some training. Time is of the essence! Please contact our Rescue Coordinator, Robin at CalmCompanions@hotmail.com or PamelaJoWolflady2@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in Nube.

Diamond and Shentea Diamond and Shentea Gender: Male, Female
Age: adult
Loc: Oregon
Status: Available, URGENT
Still Very Urgent! Klamath Falls, OR - These two sweeties are in foster care and need a home right away! Diamond is the 3-year-old brother who has a longer fluffy coat, and Shentea (Shen-tah) is the 2-year-old sister, shorter luxurious coat. They both weigh about 45 lbs, 25" at the shoulders. Shentea is spayed and Diamond will be neutered prior to adoption. They are UTD on vaccinations. Both are German shepherd mixes and very beautiful! Shentea is shy when approaching new dogs but warms up after a proper introduction. Diamond is reserved but often plays through the fence. He is protective of his sister but this should change after neutering and will be better when adopted into separate homes. Both walk on leash and get better with continued training. Original owner states they are housetrained but they have been outside in enclosed kennel since March in their foster home so may need a reminder. Shentea is quite lithe and tried to clear the 6' chain-link fencing upon arrival. Although she hasn't challenged the fencing since she arrived she will need secure fencing. Diamond is not a jumper but will try to dig out to escape if anxious and within a month the digging stopped. Commands such as Sit, Lie Down, Come-sit, and Sit-Wait…eat [for dinner] & Foster Mom is working on “quiet” & “gentle” with treats. Both are quick studies/fast learners with firm, loving consistency – a show-me attitude and progressing every day. Foster mom also using hand signals with voice commands. FM separates them on tie out chains during feeding as Diamond acknowledges Shentea as alpha & she eats much faster than her brother and then will help herself to Diamond’s food. They should be fed separately whether adopted together or separately. Shentea has taken on watch-dog attitude @ FM’s when anyone comes on property. She is not overly fond of strangers, but will warm up with consistent interaction and proper introduction. Diamond is a little more outgoing. Diamond initially stresses in new surroundings so time and patience is needed to help them adjust to a new home. He and Shentea both will need to be contained when not supervised - if inside, a sturdy kennel with roof & floor; or secure, escape-proof yard when outdoors. Our goal is to get them adopted into a loving, structured and experienced home as soon as possible as Foster Mom cannot keep them any longer. Someone who is around a lot (retired, works at home, etc.) would be best to help either of these pups to adjust to a new home. Daily exercise/hiking will keep them relaxed and focused. We really don't want these babies going to a shelter so please help them find homes. Contact Kim Kahl kimkahl@dukewarner.com soon as possible! Transportation help is available.

Denali and Gypsy Denali and Gypsy Gender: Male, Female
Age: adult
Loc: Nevada
Status: Available
Yerrington, NV - two beautiful young Malamute/wolfdogs, male -Denali, and female - Gypsy, have been rescued from the Olympic Animal Sanctuary in Washington. The sanctuary could no longer care for their 160 dogs so they were dispersed to various Rescues. All the dogs had all been kept in poor conditions and tiny pens or crates and not socialized much. These two are extremely shy. They had lived in a tiny kennel together for 3 years, with no access to walks, socialization or the outside. We think they may be siblings as they look very much alike. The male is the larger of the two. Even though they were extremely shy when they arrived they are finally starting venturing out into their yard and playing now. Both Denali and Gypsy are still extremely "wolfy" and will not come to be petted or leashed and it's been almost a year. These two beauties are very bonded and stick together like glue. They have been allowed into the larger yard with a few other dogs and have shown no aggression - just curiosity. They have dug a den and like to hide in there. Keep watching our site for new photos and updates. Both of these beauties will see the vet for examination, and soon Denali will be neutered and Gypsy spayed. They are available for adoption to a wolf sanctuary that can give them a forever and happy home. Contact Pamela Jo at PamelaJoWolflady2@sbcglobal.net for more information.

Aragorn Aragorn Gender: Male
Age: adult
Loc: Montana
Status: Available
Helena, Montana - 4-year-old sweet Aragorn is well loved by his senior owners but health problems are making it difficult for them to care for their darling boy. Aragorn was born Oct. 1, 2010 and is a big handsome boy. He's UTD on vaccinations and is neutered. He is a bit aloof with strangers but not shy or fearful. Aragorn is a mellow boy who enjoys a good hike but then loves to hit the couch and hang with you. He's ok with other dogs if introduced properly and once he gets to know them he will hang out with them too. He is protective of his humans but not aggressive (will stand between). Aragorn walks nicely on leash unless he sees a squirrel or something to investigate. He used to be housetrained so will need some direction and training in this area. He prefers to be off leash to go potty so having a yard with secure fencing (6' with dig guard) and maybe a doggie door would probably help tremendously. He is never left home alone except in his kennel where he is very comfortable. Aragorn knows a few commands and is well behaved. He is fed in his kennel so no hands in kennel while food is present. He likes a calm environment so no children, cats or small dogs please. Aragorn is very loveable and affectionate once he gets to know you and owners are heartbroken to give him up. Aragorn would be best in a home with someone that is around a lot - retired or works at home - as he will be sad when he leaves his family. Aragorn needs a home very soon so if you can give this boy a loving home, please contact Pamela at PamelaJoWolflady2@sbcglobal.net or Robin at CalmCompanions@hotmail.com

He’s a 7yom labeled WD (may be LC?) – but the hair photo looks coarser than northern breeds generally are. Living with two dogs a female aussie & a male schipperke (grouchy) – non-aggressive but supposedly doesn’t get on with males(?) not sure about that since he’s living with a small male dog (apparently that was reported by a potential adopter who had a male greyhound that must not have liked Basco) – He was thin but has gained weight in the last month – was chained for 4 years in the garage – wormy – fleas – emaciated – the usual – went through divorce & surrendered - great with people – loves kids – has separation anxiety / counter surfer / garbage cans – easy keeper will stay close & not wander off even without a fence. Tenali Tenali Gender: Female
Age: adult
Loc: Wisconsin
Status: Available
1 year old Tenali is a spayed female Malamute mix with a sweet face that will melt your heart. She is a lovely social girl. She needs a secure and financially stable forever home that can offer inside family & couch time and a secure fenced yard (6 foot) for play time to run off her boundless energy. She would also like a young male companion (or companions) who can keep up with her. She likes long walks, loves the snow and would make the perfect (on leash only) hiking companion. Tenali likes car rides if they are not too long. She can sleep in a large crate if her family is near but will need a secure fenced area to stay in while her family is at work. She could get herself into trouble if she is left in the house alone. Her recall from the play yard isn’t the best because she just loves playing outside. But bribery works and she will follow her play companions inside. Tenali is a medium sized girl and weighs about 70 pounds. She would like a home without small children or cats but seems to get along well with all dogs of any size. She is up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm free. As with all rescue animals we want to ensure that good lifetime matches are made and that a forever home is just that. So we will ask you to complete an application with Veterinarian references, a secure fenced play yard is a requirement not an option and a home visit will be required. A successful applicant will be considered a “lifetime foster home”. Our goal is to make sure that Tenali is going forever home and will never need rescue again. Contact Jayne at thegreywolf@tds.net.

Flower Flower Gender: Female
Age: 1 year old
Loc: Florida
Status: Available
Updated 4/3/15 Flower is a very sweet 1 year old northern breed mix, rescued from a dog flipping situation in Tampa, Florida. She is very shy and skittish with new people and surroundings, but she warms up quickly with a little love and patience. She loves her foster brother (1 year old wolfdog) and plays well with him, but would be just as happy being the only child! She has some resource guarding with bones and chew toys, but only towards her foster brother. Her foster mom can touch her toys and her food bowl and she is perfectly fine with it.
Flower is spayed, microchipped, and UTD on all shots. She is crate trained, and sleeps throughout the night in there. She will let her foster mom know when she needs to go outside by whining. She also walks well on leash and is working on some basic obedience and manners with her foster mom.
Flower is a very accomplished and proven escape artist and cannot be left outside off leash and unattended for any amount of time. Flower’s mom has a large enclosure for them, complete with lean in’s to prevent jumping, and Flower proved that wasn’t enough. She gets very anxious when she can’t see her mom, so it would be best for her to be an inside dog with only supervised, on leash outside time. Flower can only go to an experienced wolfdog or northern breed home. Contact Debbie at dak0717@hotmail.com

Laurel Laurel Gender: Female
Age: adult
Loc: New Jersey
Status: Available
Laurel is a spayed female Alaskan Malamute mix who has come a long way since her rescue from a hoarder in Tennessee. With little to no socialization for most of her life, Laurel was feral. The human touch was bizarre and scary to her, as she had never been acclimated to the company of people. Even then, it was clear there was a small light of hope for her to live amongst people. She showed a lot of potential, and over time, Laurel has come to love affection and petting, specifically butt scratches! One of her favorite things to do is go for long walks and hikes.
Laurel's journey of progress does not end here, and she needs someone who can accompany her in this path of acceptance and love. More info coming soon.

Storm is a beautiful and energetic female husky. She is originally from a horrendous hoarding situation in Kentucky, where more than half of the dogs found penned together starved to death. Max Max Gender: Male
Age: adult
Loc: Florida
Status: Available
Max is in a North Florida rescue at this time. He was found stray in a neighboring county. It took 2 weeks of feeding treats to finally get a hand on his rusty tight choke collar he had on. He appeared to be a stray for a long time. He is extremely skittish but gentle at the same time. He is fearful of most humans but seems to do well with women. He absolutely loves kids, and other animals. Not sure about cats. He gets along with all non-aggressive breeds. He has never shown any aggression whatsoever. He will give the occasional huff when he sees his food coming as to say “hurry up, can’t you see I'm hungry”! He would do best where he has canine/wolfdog friends like him. Max will only be placed with someone with wolfdog experience. Secure containment is required; if he gets loose he will travel. Just a fenced yard won’t do. He will need a secure kennel while not supervised. His current kennel has a concrete floor and steel roof with 9 gauge wire walls. He may be ok inside home but he needs lots of time to adjust and bond and build trust. Please contact Berry Norris at berrynorris@att.net or Debbie at dak0717@hotmail.com

Wylie Wylie Gender: Female
Age: 1 yr old
Loc: Virginia
Status: Available
Assistance with transportation if its the right home, distance may not have a max. If its for a meeting to see if it may be a match, probably about 6 hour driving. Wylie is fostered through the Virginia German Shepherd Rescue and VGSR requires a home visit and thus they generally do not adopt outside VA/MD/DC/NC area. Exceptions can be made for the right home and assuming they can get a local rescue to help with the home visit.
Wylie was in a VA animal shelter as a stray. She looked to be about 8-9 months old at the time and she appeared to have a broken leg that was never taken care of properly. The Virginia German Shepherd Rescue sent out a plea to see if anyone would foster her so she would not be euthanized by the shelter. Her foster parents volunteered to foster her thinking she was a husky/shepherd mix. They never had any intentions of keeping her. The goal had always been get medical attention for her leg (which ended up having to be amputated), and then to find her a good home.
Wylie is about 60 lbs (ish). Black/gray/white. Striking markings. Beautiful.
Tri-pod - missing front right leg but no physical limitations at this time. Can run, jump, dig, and do stairs just as good or better than a dog with 4 legs. Long term will need to watch her other front leg and diagonal back leg for wear and tear.
Wylie is about 1 year old; low content (based on personality and physical attributes is she is mostly husky with maybe a little shepherd and a little wolf); 55-60lbs - ideal weight; spayed - Oct. 2014. She is fully vaccinated and no medical needs at this time.
Known history - A man dropped her off at the VA shelter and said she was a stray but the shelter had reported that she seemed attached to the man. Several WD breeders in the area were contacted, and one specifically said she might be one of theirs but they didn't seem interested in helping her.
Wylie is: Fun and very playful (almost cat like in many ways). Loving and affectionate. High energy. Mischievous and can be destructive. Needs high amounts of stimulation and engagement. Loves to climb.
When meeting new people she generally is nervous at first but then warms up quickly and can be very affectionate. When they take her to places like Petsmart and Petco for adoption days she needs about 15-20 minutes to warm up (her hackles will go up at first and she is nervous), but then she settles in and takes treats nicely from visitors and does very well. However when foster family had a maintenance man come to their home Wylie was growling some and her hackles were up. She seems to take cues from the German shepherds in the foster home. If they are comfortable with the visitor, so is she, but if they are nervous of the visitor, so it she.
She absolutely loves other dogs. She plays very rough though so needs dogs that can handle her exuberance. At daycare she plays with dogs about 40lbs and up.
Wylie is unknown with cats. She shows interest but doesn't seem aggressive. Its very hard to tell if she'd have prey drive with a cat if left unattended. She's met a few 15 lbs dogs and she did fine at first but then when they tried to play with her she played too rough and the small dogs would snap at her. She is pretty good at having another dog put her in her place but it doesn't stop her from trying again (she'll pause when she is corrected, but then will instigate the other dog again - its a game and fun to her). She does best with dogs close to her size or larger.
When supervised and on-leash Wylie did very well with children, but shouldn't trust her in a home with children though yet as she can be destructive with anything she decides looks like fun to chew up and destroy. She also has some resource guarding issues. If she took a child's toy or stuffed animal, she could likely "claim it" and show aggression when someone goes to take it from her. She is doing well working on this with her foster parents and trainer but she needs firm leadership and consistency.
She does like to dig but not excessively. If she had a lot of pent of energy and was bored she may dig even more. In her foster home she gets 2 long walks a day for about 2-2.5 miles each. She has not destroyed any furniture but could if left in a house unattended. She has destroyed some blinds and a rug (in addition to dozens of dog toys, socks, and things like that). She was much worse with no house manners when she was first brought to her foster home, and after the past couple months of consistency and reinforcement, she is doing better and learning to respond to correction. They also keep a leash on her in the house. She drags the leash around so they can easily get a hold of her if she gets into something she shouldn't be doing.
She definitely resource guards. If she gets a sock from the hamper but you get to her quickly, she may protest a bit but she is doing better with "drop" especially if you pull up on the leash a bit while you firmly command "drop". Foster parents have been working on her food bowl for months and she is 95% better with the food bowl for her foster parents. They have trained her that their hands going into her food bowl are a good thing and they are giving her more food or something even more yummy than food. When they first brought her home she would have bitten if you got to close to her food but she is much better with her foster parents now and doesn't show any aggression but she is still obsessive about her food. She is still bad with a high value item like a kong filled with yummy treats. The longer she has it and the more frustrated she gets that she can't get a treat out, the worse her intensity is when you go to take it from her. This is similar with anything she is chewing up/destroying. The sooner you get to her to take it the less resistance. The longer she has it, the more she has claimed it and the worse her guarding. She has come a long way in the
4 months but she still has a long way to go and she will need constant reinforcement.
4.5-5 foot 4 board paddock fencing with chicken wire has contained her just fine but she is never left outside completely unattended for very long without other things in the yard to engage her. If she was extremely bored and there was something outside the fence she wanted, she might try to dig or climb out. Contact Debbie at dak0717@hotmail.com or Emily at emily@hartman1.com
